When I saw "The Cornbread Book" by Jeremy Jackson
it was the picture on the cover that first caught my attention.
A perfect square of cornbread with a toothpick American flag stuck in it.
How could this image NOT draw me in???
A single-subject, a one-scoop title--history, humor and recipes.
I truly enjoy these kinds of cookbooks.

Be sure and READ the recipes. There is a short commentary before each one.
I write recipes this way too as it gives the reader a "feel" for the recipe
before getting started and includes tidbits of information you would not get otherwise.
Published in 2003, nominated for a James Beard Award and subtitled "a love story with recipes", the author really LOVES cornbread--a fact that shines brightly in this quirky little cookbook.
